After 30 years There is a reason I would happily come back for another 30. Staff know me by first name and all of my crew, treatment is well explained and compassionately provided and the facility is clean and inviting. My dogs and cats, many of them have received exemplary care from Drs. Gayfer, Cairns and Basterfield. I really like these people and what they do, just wish I didn't have to visit as often - really:)

Phenomenal. Dr. Gayfer and his staff were exceptional in showing compassion to our situation (cancer diagnosis in 5-yr-old Doberman), and guided me through my options, and the next steps. From offering to help me get my boy into the car and receiving calls from both Dr. Gayfer and his staff to check in on K.O., to his staff dropping off medication to my home and Dr. Gayfer opening up the clinic at 5pm on Christmas Eve, the staff and doctors at Juan De Fuca are beyond committed to providing exceptional service and expertise for their 2 and 4-legged cliental. Regardless of my boy’s success on his treatment plan, I know he is being treated by the best veterinary team and I couldn’t speak more highly of the Juan De Fuca Vet Clinic. They are everything a vet should be and I would without question, recommend their clinic to any animal lover.

Have to agree with the previous post! These sites where miffed clients can discredit vets (or MDs or mechanics) like cowardly anonymous snipers drive me nuts. Whatever happened to addressing concerns directly? These are real people and real businesses. Dr. Baillee has cared for our pets for years, at two different clinics. She is consistently thorough and friendly and she really cares. She is experienced, current, nonjudgmental, open-minded and never too proud to say she doesn't know, look things up, ask specialists or get second opinions. She listens to our ideas and our budget and we love her common sense approach. She'll tell you what she thinks but we like that and we never feel like she's talking down to us or recommending stuff we don't need. My spouse is an RN so I know medical professionals can be chatting about the weather and doing a thorough physical exam at the same time. This clinic is busy for a reason. We love Dr. Baillee but we trust the clinic as a whole.

After reading reviews on the JDF page I find it sad how some use social media to vilify an individual or business while under the protection of anonymous.It's easy to be critical and cruel at a keyboard. I have taken my cat to JDF, specifically Dr Baillie for a number of years and find her to be an outstanding vet. She has,the patience to listen and answer my questions without condescension of any kind. I can appreciate the frustration of a worried pet owner and do not undermine that in any way. Ive taken my cats to Vets I'm less than impressed with but I made my opinions known to them and didn't go back. Voicing your concerns to the Vet directly rather than on social media,I think would be a valued learning experience if not in the moment, certainly after some thought. All staff have always been treated with understanding and respect.If a client has a great experience,then by all means, share your feel good story that sends out good energy cause the world sure needs more of that

There are good and bad Vets at this clinic. We like Dr. Bailee. She really cares and takes the time to do a thorough exam and gives you options for treatment. Stay away from Dr. Mark Foley. He bullied us into vaccinating our dogs 2 years before they were due. He did a pitiful exam and when he was injecting the vaccine, 1/2 of it squirted out the needle because he hadn't injected if properly. He is a horrible money grabber.

I have been looking for a new vet since mine has just retired and the new one will have big shoes to fill. I have been to this office twice, once with a rescue cat and once with my dog. The office itself is clean, bright and welcoming. The front end staff is warm and friendly. I have seen 2 different vets. The first one (with my new cat) was recommended by the rescue and I found her to be informative and really caring. The second one, not so much. Really wants to push the food. I have done much research on food and why a vet would want to push a food with corn as the first ingredient is beyond me. My other vet understood this and saw that animals are extremely healthy. I have to finish with this vet for my dogs problem, but I will be sticking with the original one if I can. I encourage everyone to do your own research regarding food. Do not take anyone's word for it.

Dr. John Basterfield has taken care of our dogs for the past 30 years. His care for animals is exceptional, very kind, compassionate,and thorough. The staff have always been very professional, patient, pleasant and helpful. I would highly recommend this clinic, and have never been disappointed. I have seen other vets at the clinic when John has not been available; they also have provided excellent care. The cleanliness of the facility is very good.

I've been to this Vet twice and saw two different doctors. One doctor really pushed their food that they sell on me and the other didn't really seem interested in my pet and or its medical history. My real problem, however, is with the front desk staff. Very rude and condescending on the phone from one of the staff when I requested to see a different Doctor and when I was waiting to pay there was 4...FOUR staff sitting there talking about their PERSONAL business while I just stood there waiting patiently. What kind of customer service is that?! I expected better at this clinic. They don't seem genuinely interested in their customers/patients but would rather socialize and sell you their products. I won't be returning.

When we first starting taking our pet to this clinic we were impressed with the Dr. Our pet had some routine surgery and almost died due to the VETRINARIAN'S incompetence. He seems to be "spaced out" or in his own little world. The Vet Tech was the one who found the issue involved at the time. Prior to taking our pet to this clinic for the surgery he was in perfect health. After his surgery he has progressively declined and we now have to put him down. We also have seen 2 other vet's in the same clinic who seem very competent but this particular doctor we would NOT recommend. I do have to say the front counter staff and Vet Technician's are all amazing and very caring. I would recommend this clinic but PLEASE research each vet very thoroughly before going. Also, the exam rooms are not very comfortable and it apears they do not clean the rooms after each pet has been in although I can not be certain about that. Just as another warning, please be very careful which vet you choose the

Can't say enough about my visit to this clinic. The staff were wonderful, and Dr. Basterfield was fantastic and the price was reasonable. Dr. Basterfield was called in for a second opinion for our dog and he found the issue in one visit. Very nice and old school. Would not hesitate to recommend this clinic. Also, my partner had taken his dog prior to Dr. Basterfield and he was very impressed by him as well.
