I went on vacation September 11th and although my other cats stayed home, I left my diabetic cat Punky at Abbey Pet Hospital with specific instructions regarding what he could eat,
what his dosage of Lantus (insulin) was, etc. I felt like I was following what I promised
him... always doing the very best I could for him.
Four days later, the Vet called me (I was on a cruise) and told me Punky hadn't
eaten since I left, and they hadn't given him his shots! He wondered what I might like to do. Of course I wanted Punky fed, by force if necessary, and I wanted him stabilized. By the next morning, my sweet boy had died
alone in a cage.
I cannot begin to express my outrage and am beside myself with grief. I picked
up his body yesterday and requested copies of his records. Well guess what, the
notes say "loves kitten food." In other words, they ignored my specific instructions. I delivered a well kitty to them and within four days he died in their care.

This is my honest opinion. I've taken 8 dogs here, most all of them received vaccinations here, two were neutered and two will be neutered. At some point, at least one dog received medication for liver problems, ear infections, and skin infections, and they've seen all my dogs since they were puppies. Dr. Prutton is honest and straight forward. He does show passion when owners do not spay their dogs, which is fully understandable. His prices are the most reasonable I've been around. Trust me I did my research among all the vets from El Cerrito to Vallejo, any town that the I80 passes through. The support staff defer technical questions to the vet, which is what is supposed to happen. And they are all caring. There is a new doctor there now who is also great. I highly recommend.
