I have been taking my cats here for 10 years. The reception staff are kind but since Dr. Zia has taken over the animal expertise is clearly not evident. I recently got my kitten neutered and he was prescribed a routine pain medication and it caused him to go into renal failure and inevitably killed him. The reason I am so frustrated is because from the first day I took my kitten home I knew something wasn't right. I called the doctor's cell on Sunday since they were closed and he advised me to force feed him and still give him meds. I brought my little guy in first thing Monday morning and the physical exam was normal so he sent me home. I brought him back in Tuesday and insisted on blood work and that evening I learned the news and had to put him down. I ended up doing that at an emergency hospital and was informed by staff there that had I caught this sooner he would have had a better chance of survival. I have since pulled my other cat's records and am looking for a new vet.

I have taken my King to this Dr. Zal and i think he is great i have nothing but appreciation and think its not about how he is with me, however hes been great,but how he is with my pets and they never mind seeing him or going to the vet. he is able to fit me in in emergency's. Keep up the great work.. from King Caesars owners

I have taking my pets to this clinic for many years to Dr. Hiscox and Dr. Etchells but they are no longer there. The new vet, Dr. Zia, does not compare to the care my pets and I received over the years by them. I am not impressed by the way Dr. Zia explains things and no longer feel as though my pets are Derry Road animal hospital's extended family as I did with the other doctors. The rest of the staff is lovely but I will be looking for a new veterinarian for my babies.

Having worked in several vet clinics and taken my cats to many clinics over the years I must say that I've had the best experience with Dr. Etchells at Derry Road Animal Hospital. She really takes the necessary time with her patients while so many other clinics are very rushed. With Dr. Etchells, you always leave with a plan and written instructions. The quality of medicine is fantastic and the anesthetic monitoring is exceptional. You can rest assured that your pets are well taken care of and in good hands with her. Dr. Etchells is very detail oriented and takes the time to investigate each case completely. There is a nice quiet area for cats and Dr. Etchells and her team work slowly and carefully to minimize stress for our feline friends who are not always used to being in strange environments. I highly recommend this clinic and will keep bringing my beloved kitties to Dr. Etchells!

Have taken my dogs to Dr Etchells for many years. We are never rushed through appts. Waiting is minimal & if it happens the receptionist tells you why & how long it will be. The tech Vanessa is friendly,knowledgeable & warmly greets us. Dr Etchells thoroughly examines my pet & listens carefully. She understands you are speaking for your pet. She asks excellent questions & it's like you are having a conversation with her - she is very skillfully finding out about your pet's life so nothing is overlooked. She & her staff have truly gotten to know my dogs & know what's normal & what's not for them. They have shared our joy of a puppy & our concern over an illness & grief after loosing a loyal companion at the age of 17! She works with you to provide the best medical care possible & always respects your opinion & budget. Calls are returned promptly, test results explained thoroughly & all questions patiently answered. Simply the best vet office around!

I brought my cat in because she was not using her litter box. The vet was very helpful. She examined my cat and asked me a lot of questions. She said testing might be needed but gave me a lot of suggestions of what to do at home. She also talked about a lot of other health issues for my cat but didn't push anything. She gave me a lot more info than my last vet, definitely worth the money I spent, she spent more than half an hour with me for the exam fee. Best part is my cat isn't having any more accidents!

Terrible vet!! Unless you have endless amounts of money. They make you feel like a terrible pet owner unless you buy everything they are upselling.

Very nice staff, seem to know what they're doing. Brought my kitten here for her booster + rabies shots. Were kind and handled her lovingly. Reasonable price too, compared to others in the area.

I take my two large breed dogs here and have not had a good experience. Their vet, although has been in the field for quite a while, is not the best I've seen. She seems nervous at every appointment, and complaints every time because they are larger dogs and she has a back problem. I really don't like bringing them there. We're looking for a new vet. The other doctor at the clinic (the owner) is more assertive and doesn't seem to have an issue with larger dogs.

I cannot agree with previous post. The doctors at this hospital spend a lot of time with us each time we visit our dog who has really bad allergies and we were resigned to seeing her and with no fur as no other vet seemed to be able to help her - saying there was nothing more they could do. After our first at Derry Road we finally understood what needed to be done. We have a dog with fur, she isnt in pain any more and we know what to do to keep her heathly and manage her allergies. Finally someone took the time to help us and they follow up regularly to see how she is doing.

Once my cat was diagnosed with FIP, they never returned our calls and we have to beg for 10 min to bring and put him to sleep. We were refused with the explanation they don't have time. When we've sent an email about what happened, we haven't hear any sorry or apology...

Very friendly, really good with my not-to-friendly cat. Tried to help me choose best care with limited budget I have. Offered to pick me up when I said rely on family to get me to appts.

Vet extremely unpleasant probably the worst we have seen. Competency must somewhat exists (but frankly we did not notice.) Avoid if you can.
