I brought my seizing 3 year old cat here as an emergency since they are close to our home on Thursday morning when they first open. I was greeted by a robot that was more interested in the days scheduled appointments than my pleas that if we go further in traffic to the OVH as she suggested in morning traffic my cat might die with more seizures. There was no doctor on duty they tried to contact 2 doctors and were not available.
We go as she told us to the Ottawa Animal hospital on Boyd Ave. We were stuck in morning traffic and my cat, had 4 more seizures. When we arrived at the OAH, they gave us the grim news our little guy might not make it. He stayed overnight and died 24 hours after being admitted.
If the Kanata Animal Hospital had acted quickly to admit him and give him the care he needed our beautiful little boy would still be here with us. RIP little soul, your mommy and daddy did their best to try and save you. We love you always and will miss you every day of our lives.

Dr. Nielsen, the new vet there, is wonderful! She was the best I've ever seen with my cat, who felt very comfortable. She explains things well, in a way I've never had before. She will be my veterinarian from now on!

I had the worst experience when I brought my dog to this animal hospital. They did test that were unnecessary so they can charge extra fees. This place is a money pit. All they want is your money!

Please, if you care about your animal DO NOT take them to Kanata Animal Hospital. They prescribed my cat metacam for her pain, which upon research causes renal failure. I spent thousands trying to determine what was wrong, removing teeth (And as another customer pointed out) was overcharged EVERY time. When I made the difficult decision to put her down, they did without any empathy, and 2 minutes after she died proceeded to try to upsell me on a fancy cat death package. I was hugging my dead best friend, and they want me to have a clay paw print made. I just wish I would have been smart enough to see what they were doing before it was too late. All they want is your money, and they will have your pet go through unnecessary procedures so they can profit.

Too much focus on financial gain and bottom line even when long time loyal customer in a difficult situation with pet. (end of life) may I suggest in highly emotional situations . Real customer service and humanity go along way!!

I took my cat in for teeth extractions and they ended up charging 30% more than the estimate. They charged for monitoring their machines, taking a blood pressure, and even charging $11 for a warming blanket used during surgery that you don't take home. My advice is to shop around before you consent to any treatment at this facility.

They are very fast to take your money for their overpriced services. But don't expect the same speed when it comes to filling out paperwork for your insurance claim. At my 1st follow up call, I was outright lied to, assuring me that the claim had been send to my insurance. However, my insurance did not have it, so I followed up in person and found out the claim had not even be completed by the vet. The staffer assured me it would be done the next day as she was a 'lot more competent' than the person on the phone. When I called again 4 days later, the claim still had NOT been completed by the vet. The person on the phone assured me that she was also a lot more competent than the previous person...do I see a trend, or script? Anyhow, needless to say that the 1000.00 bucks they received from me recently is the last penny they are going to see. I am sure there is more competent staff at other clinics, welcoming my business and my 2 dogs.

Overcharge you in every way possible, unnecessary procedures are prescribed. Don't be surprised if a month or two after visiting the hospital you receive a bill for a treatment or vaccination which had never been provided.

I have been going to the Kanata Animal Hospital for over 16 years. There care has always been the best. My previous dog developed cushing's disease in his final years and it was with the excellent care of the staff (especially Doctor Wright) that I was able to give him a good quality of life in his final year. The staff have always been available to talk and very open about different treatment options and courses of action. I recommend them for anyone that is looking for a vet clinic.

Very expensive and no clear indication of exact costs until you pay. Would be nice if they used computers in room to explain costs and such throughout visit instead of being surprised by total.

Not upfront about their costs, and tried to oversell me.

I have taken my animals many places over the years and the Kanata Animal Hospital is by far the best hospital I have had the pleasure of going to. The veterinarians are knowledgeable, patient and they take their time explaining things;even when I ask many, many questions. Lastly I would like to say that the receptionist are truly lovely, they always have a smile even when the hospital is busy.
