I brought my seizing 3 year old cat here as an emergency since they are close to our home on Thursday morning when they first open. I was greeted by a robot that was more interested in the days scheduled appointments than my pleas that if we go further in traffic to the OVH as she suggested in morning traffic my cat might die with more seizures. There was no doctor on duty they tried to contact 2 doctors and were not available.
We go as she told us to the Ottawa Animal hospital on Boyd Ave. We were stuck in morning traffic and my cat, had 4 more seizures. When we arrived at the OAH, they gave us the grim news our little guy might not make it. He stayed overnight and died 24 hours after being admitted.
If the Kanata Animal Hospital had acted quickly to admit him and give him the care he needed our beautiful little boy would still be here with us. RIP little soul, your mommy and daddy did their best to try and save you. We love you always and will miss you every day of our lives.

Over the past 25 years or so, my pets have been patients of this hospital. I have literally spent thousands of dollars for pet care with them. I am now a pensioner with a small fixed income and it is very difficult to manage now, especially with a sick pup. My little one started with an eye infection over the weekend and it is worsening. I called the hospital and begged if they could see him now and I will clear the bill next week when my pension comes in. They flatly refused. I would have to pay for the vsit, a whopping $96 and maybe be able to pay for meds at the end of the month. Where is the compassion? Is money more important to them than the well being of their patients?? They don't care. It's all about the bottom line obviously. I may now have to put my baby down because I can't afford to keep him anymore. Like Big Pharma, the Vet business is a psychopathic rip off. I am so disappointed. Silly me, I thought they actually cared about the animals.

DO NOT GO TO THIS CLINIC! The staff are unfriendly, the facilities are worn, dirty and unkempt, and the veterinarians seem mostly driven by money. You will pay way more for the same services elsewhere in town, and get pushed into doing sometimes unnecessary procedures. They are part of that huge corporate chain VCA now, probably has a lot to do with it.

My experience has been exceptional over the past three years. The care by all three Vets has been incredible. They are thorough, compassionate, and patient with me. When l enter the building l am confidant my dog is going to get the best possible care available. That is the most important thing to me.

Dr Nielsen brings a breath of fresh air to this clinic, she is professional, personable, courteous, caring, and excellent value for money, I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a new vet or looking to change vets.

Dr. Nielsen, the new vet there, is wonderful! She was the best I've ever seen with my cat, who felt very comfortable. She explains things well, in a way I've never had before. She will be my veterinarian from now on!

Dr. Wright is by far the best vet there. He listens and gives you all the options. He does not pressure you in anyway. It is a bit pricy but your animal will get good care with Dr. Wright.

How many unnecessary tests can we perform today? And if you don't agree, we'll make you feel like you don't love your pet. Should be their motto. No compassion, they don't even listen. Lets create a frankenanimal- forget about quality of life. Good if you want to try to keep your fur baby alive forever no matter if they have a good quality of life or not. One cat cared for at KAH over five years cost 28000 in fees, wow way top go KAH!!!

The doctors are top notch. The staff always show that they care. The people at the clinic are the only reasons I keep bringing my dogs there because I agree with the other reviewers that the prices are over-the-top and I have been pressured to buy services that in hindsight seemed to have been of dubious value.

I had the worst experience when I brought my dog to this animal hospital. They did test that were unnecessary so they can charge extra fees. This place is a money pit. All they want is your money!

Please, if you care about your animal DO NOT take them to Kanata Animal Hospital. They prescribed my cat metacam for her pain, which upon research causes renal failure. I spent thousands trying to determine what was wrong, removing teeth (And as another customer pointed out) was overcharged EVERY time. When I made the difficult decision to put her down, they did without any empathy, and 2 minutes after she died proceeded to try to upsell me on a fancy cat death package. I was hugging my dead best friend, and they want me to have a clay paw print made. I just wish I would have been smart enough to see what they were doing before it was too late. All they want is your money, and they will have your pet go through unnecessary procedures so they can profit.

Too much focus on financial gain and bottom line even when long time loyal customer in a difficult situation with pet. (end of life) may I suggest in highly emotional situations . Real customer service and humanity go along way!!

I took my cat in for teeth extractions and they ended up charging 30% more than the estimate. They charged for monitoring their machines, taking a blood pressure, and even charging $11 for a warming blanket used during surgery that you don't take home. My advice is to shop around before you consent to any treatment at this facility.

They are very fast to take your money for their overpriced services. But don't expect the same speed when it comes to filling out paperwork for your insurance claim. At my 1st follow up call, I was outright lied to, assuring me that the claim had been send to my insurance. However, my insurance did not have it, so I followed up in person and found out the claim had not even be completed by the vet. The staffer assured me it would be done the next day as she was a 'lot more competent' than the person on the phone. When I called again 4 days later, the claim still had NOT been completed by the vet. The person on the phone assured me that she was also a lot more competent than the previous person...do I see a trend, or script? Anyhow, needless to say that the 1000.00 bucks they received from me recently is the last penny they are going to see. I am sure there is more competent staff at other clinics, welcoming my business and my 2 dogs.

Overcharge you in every way possible, unnecessary procedures are prescribed. Don't be surprised if a month or two after visiting the hospital you receive a bill for a treatment or vaccination which had never been provided.

I have been going to the Kanata Animal Hospital for over 16 years. There care has always been the best. My previous dog developed cushing's disease in his final years and it was with the excellent care of the staff (especially Doctor Wright) that I was able to give him a good quality of life in his final year. The staff have always been available to talk and very open about different treatment options and courses of action. I recommend them for anyone that is looking for a vet clinic.

Very expensive and no clear indication of exact costs until you pay. Would be nice if they used computers in room to explain costs and such throughout visit instead of being surprised by total.

It's true that it's very expensive at this hospital, however the Vets and the staff have always made it worth it. They always remember my pet's name, even when I had only been there once. They are always patient and careful, and are able to answer whatever questions I have. Everything is always exceptionally clean and well maintained. People need to remember that even though they pay for it, the same goes for if we were paying for the services of our own doctor - would you want one that does half the job and you pay close to nothing for? Or would you want a well-rounded doctor that you need to pay a little more for? That's how I feel about Kanata and my dogs, and I'm a student paying my way through school.

Any veterinary hospital operated by the OVG have crazy prices. Kanata animal hospital claims they care about our pets but do not be fooled. I recently did some research on other vets pricing and realized kanata animal hospital was charging hundreds more than other vets. So beware. A good vet is important but pricing is also. It is no wonder why some people don't get their animals the care they need. These vets charge more for blood work than a private clinic for people. Look around first.

Very overpriced, for a day in the hospital for my cat I was charged over 1400 dollars, basically for one iv and one x-ray. I will never go back, I felt ripped off.

I have taken my animals many places over the years and the Kanata Animal Hospital is by far the best hospital I have had the pleasure of going to. The veterinarians are knowledgeable, patient and they take their time explaining things;even when I ask many, many questions. Lastly I would like to say that the receptionist are truly lovely, they always have a smile even when the hospital is busy.
