My pet has suffered the last three weeks because they gave bordetella mist before asking me. I have spent hundreds of dollars on test and meds and etc...... If you take your pet here. Don t let them take them out of your sight. They also turned me away when I called for help and when I rushed her to clinic when she could hardly breathe. Referred me to er She now has excellent vet care and still having trouble. RID: 51302

Banfield usually employs one "experienced" veterinarian and one to two newbies (fresh out of vet school). What this means is that you MIGHT end up with a vet who knows his or her stuff but probably not. Banfield's prices are set low, however the costs rack up because of all the various fees involved with treatment. Banfield is a separate company from Petsmart, however they are also a corporation (meaning that they are HIGHLY sales driven). Their wellness plans are not worth the money, as many of the procedures/products available in the plans are not always necessary for your pet. Be smart consumers! Do not be fooled by the convenient location(s) and "great prices" that Banfield has to offer...spoken from someone who knows the business. :) RID: 27671
Click to report rating    2/6/11   1     4     4     1   I no longer take my pets here- one dog was treated for an ear condition, and after $500 dollars spent HE STILL HAS IT. My mother's dog has also been treated there and the pet insurance that she bought specifically to help with all the costs of the many, many tests run and treatments never really applied to anything... it just ended up being an additional cost. In addition, the vets there weren't all that friendly. Staff was very friendly and helpful, great locations, but i will never take a pet there again, nor would I recommend them :( RID: 22639
Click to report rating    11/24/09   3     3     3     1   I agree, Banfield is only out for what they can get. They suck you in with the free vet visit and then start ticking off the list of requirements for your pet. Ouch! RID: 15443

Click to report rating    8/7/09   1     2     1     1   Taking our cat to Banfield was a mistake. The first person who saw Kitty didn't know how to take her temp. When we finally saw the vet, she hardly listened to the cat’s symptoms, and ordered an expensive round of tests and meds. The vet could have said that "the test will be more stressful than letting the illness run its course". Instead,we felt compelled to get the tests. After 20 min, we looked through the window and saw our cat lying ON THE FLOOR, muzzled and surrounded by four employees holding her down. They scared the cat so badly that she peed on herself. I can only guess how she ended up on the floor, or why it took four people to hold one declawed, old cat (with arthritis) still. A jump/fall from the operating table would have been quite rough. When we got her home she couldn’t put any weight on one leg. She can’t even crouch to eat. These are new symptoms for which the vet didn't take responsibility. Banfield just wants your money – they don’t care about your animals. RID: 13746
