I had a good experience in this hospital. The staff members and Dr Joanna McPherson were very friendly and they definetly know how to handle a cat. they were concerned about pain management and stress as well. The consultation had a good pace, no rushing at all, which I loved the most! The place’s clean and easy to access. There’s a parking lot in front of the hospital. The fee was fair (95,00 cads/ consultation). They working hours are great! If I have another emergency I’ll go back there for sure

I've been going to this clinic since I've had my first german shepherd ...they are the best from the moment you enter you and your son or daughter(pet) are welcomed warmly. The staff are great and I recommend this place to anybody who is looking for a clinic. My german shepherd loves going ...he especially loves seeing Dr. Zach Jones who he has taken a liking to which I greatly appreciate since I know that it can take off the stress for any animal...I do ask to see Dr. Zach Jones for our appointments but if he is not available all the vets are equally just as great because we have seen quite a few of them there and have been just as pleased and happy with them. As I said this is the best vet place around and I will always bring any pet I have here now and the future.

Immediately after getting our cat vaccinated at RYAH it became very lethargic and wouldn't eat or drink for days. They assumed no responsibility for the cat's condition and offered me a 'gold' and later a 'silver' plan which cost close to $ 1000. to fix our cat which included blood work, a hydrating fluid injection and some prescriptions. The cat recovered alright, much quicker than my pocketbook did! I felt the clinic was much more about extracting as much money as possible from clients which kind of takes the focus off of caring for pets.

I had read many wonderful stories about RYAH...stories of dedication, knowledge, compassion, and the successes they have had treating so many challenging cases. I have 3 feral cats. Dauby and Jaspurr are mostly tamed and they seemed to like the staff that worked with them. Bigzby is not yet tamed, he might not ever be fully tamed...he is quite challenging to work with, but the RYAH staff surprised me with how wonderfully they worked with him and I was amazed at how responsive he was to their treatment. The hospital is roomy, bright, and clean with a great selection of quality pet foods, services, a few cuties available for adoption, and a comfortable waiting room. The best part about the clinic is the courteous and professional staff who offer a wide variety of skills. They are very patient and will answer all of your questions. I also love receiving a copy of my pets' medical reports following each assessment. I would totally recommend RYAH in a heartbeat!!!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! I recently spent over $1,000 to figure out what was wrong with my puppy and they totally misdiagnosed him. They prescribed medication for a condition he did not have. They don't seem to know what they are doing and their prices are outrageous. After spending tons of money and still getting no answers I got a second opinion and the new vet was able to find the problem in the first visit and thankfully my puppy is on the road to recovery. When I called to complain they told me that all of their recommendations were justified and that I would receive no compensation for their errors. Terrible experience!

On Oct 27,15 we brought our dog Asher to the hospital. He seemed to be in pain and refused to eat or drink anything. He was seen by dr.Jones, who right away anticipated spinal cord injury. He did not give the dog an overall exam but focused on the spine. When at some point the dog squeaked, dr.Jones right away recommended an x ray and blood work. We agreed despite the high cost, for we were told the dog might have problems walking. When we came back a few hours later, dr.Jones showed us an x ray of a healthy dog with no spinal injury except for a tiny spike on one vertebra. The total cost for the services and medications (which we never gave him) was $791.62. The following day, the dog was back to normal after he had had a good bowel movement and he has been fine since then. Dr.Jones's misdiagnosis cost us close to $800!!! Had he examined the dog thoroughly, he would have noticed that the spine was not a problem. This clinic is a rip-off!!!!

Great staff but I don't like that doctors like to push tests on my pet that are not necessary just to get more money out of you be careful with them they will take you for everything you got.I take my cat now to Marina Vet Clinic amazing doctor and staff very caring and very well priced they will not rip you off if anything they will save you money...

Great clinic with very friendly staff and all the comforts of free beverages. My dog seemed for really enjoy his visits. Transferred over from another clinic when we moved to the area. One major downside is the price. Simple checkups run into the $100s, and you'd better have a couple of stiff drinks before if you're planning to do anything at all beyond that. If I recall, neutering was quoted to me at over $700. Yikes.

This vet is very expensive! I brought my cat in because they were very close to where I live but after getting my bill which came to over $ 1000.00 dollars.I found out through research the vet price should have been a little over $ 600.00. So I was very disappointed to hear that.Yes the vet has a nice atmosphere but I don't want to pay for a nice place.I just care that my pet is getting taken care off and not being ripped off. Please be aware.

The hospital and staff are great. We have used them for over 20 years. But they are super expensive. Everytime i use them i am afraid to check my bill. They have robbed and raped me of my hard earned money many times. Once my dog passes they will only be a memory. They are way over priced.

I can't afford this anymore! They are nearby, and I've been going there a long time, but I've found that over time they have developed new techniques for separating me from more money than I really need to spend. Wellness panels and redundant tests, low-cost prescriptions to reel me in followed by insanely priced follow-ups that I can't argue my way out of. They insist my animal eats only food that they sell (which is available at pet food stores at 40% of the price), and charge well over double what other vets in the neighbourhood charge. On top of this, they misdiagnosed an age-old disease and did not compensate me for all the wrong meds and treatments my animal suffered through. The clinic is clean, efficient and caring, but I know I can get that elsewhere for a fraction of the price.

I am concerned with the quality at this hospital. It is starting to go down. They took blood from my dog for heart worm test but conviently forgot to tell me that they took a large chunk of skin from his neck, so I could make sure it doesn't get infected. I usually check my dogs after these types of exams so I was lucky to clean it up. Mistakes happen but it is irresponsible not to let the owner know.

Took my 6 month old puppy for a possible bowel obstruction and for 1 x-ray, IV fluids, laxatone and a med to lower stomach acid I was charged $790. They gave me a quote for spaying for $813. My regular vet charges $200. Although, I was happy with the doctors and staff and facilities this place is a total ripoff

I have brought my pets to Dr Sylvester for the past few years and have never found a more caring and compassionate doctor. I tried to book an appointment with her today and they told me she has moved to Ottawa but would not tell me the clinic name. Why have they lost their last two really good vets to Ottawa?

I got taken for a ride here - $700 dollars for a dog with pink eye. All he needed was a tube of ointment but I was stupid enough to agree to all the tests they recommended. They ripped me off once but won't get the chance to do it again.

Dr. John Allen is an amazing vet,he is very gentle with the animals and speaks to them in a calming tone. I have been going to him for about 20 years, starting when he was at the Toronto Humane Society-my family adopted a dog from them. She was a beautiful German shepherd that got hit by a train and had to have her leg amputated. Anyways that was 20 years ago-I now bring my 2 dogs there. When my Scottish Terrier was put to sleep he was helped me through the process as it was very difficult, due to the fact this dog always had health problems but Dr Allen explained if I continued treatment it would be costly and he would suffer,he said for humane reasons I should put him to sleep but he said I could take him home and think about it. I decided not to wait that long. Thanks again to John Allen and the wonderful staff for helping me

These vets are money gougers! I just had my dog neutered at Marina Animal Hospital in Mimico (not that far from Royal York). I paid just over $300 for neuter & meds, microchip and two puppy teeth pulled. I got a quote from Royal York for just the neuter and microchip and they quoted me close to $600!!! Tell me that's not gouging!

Ok it's a bit more expensive than others - it's the location. But, treated our family pets for 30+ years, compassionate when ends have come. Dr. Brown is great! I've gone in and out of Canada with pets for more than 25 years, having to board, get export papers, etc.,and staff, especially Dr. Brown, have always facilitated in tight time frames and sometimes little notice. Spotless facilities, do insist on bordicella vaccines and flea/tick meds in season. Day boarding a bit pricey. No hesitation in recommending RYAH at all!!

Royal York is a great facility with knowledgeable and caring staff. My dog has been seen by 3 different veterinarians, all of whom are competent, but we definitely have an affinity for Dr. Jerabek. She's very caring and that comes through during the examination, she's also able to describe the examination and problems in lay terms. While not the cheapest clinic, the cost is certainly well in line with service provided. Very happy!

This clinic is great. Most of the staff at the counter are informative. The vet assistants and vet spend time with you ans answer your questions. You can tell that they really love animals and want to care for them. The specific doctor that sees my cat is so great and loving, my cat loves him. The only downfall is the prices. They are ridiculously expensive. Almost $300 for a cat neutering! Overall, I do recommed this place if you have the financial resources to afford it.
