It was after hours, and one of my horses was colicing, and was down. My Vet was unavailable. Dr. O'Conner was the only Vet who was willing to come out to treat him -- and he came out quickly. I was very impressed with him - his treatment, and his knowledge. I also thought the charges, for a nighttime emergency visit were very fair. The postscript is that my stallion is doing fine today. I would certainly recommend him. Thanks Dr. O'Conner

I've had many wonderful experiences with Dr. Batten but recently had an awful experience with Dr. Miller and, as a result, will never use this clinic again. My horse was badly colicing in the evening and Dr. Miller was the on-call vet. When he called in response to my page, instead of inquiring about the situation, he asked me if I was a regular client of the clinic (I was and had spent over $3,000 there in recent months) and started whining that he had to respond to a colic at my barn the night before and now he had to drive back out to help me. I ended up having another vet come out to help. The last thing any horse owner needs when dealing with a scary emergency is a rude, insensitive vet.

Grant Miller is my regular vet and he is great, however I had to have someone come quickly as I had a horse that was choking on an apple. Dr. Cooper arrived. What an arrogant so and so. He arrived and said nothing was wrong with my horse. I informed him there was something wrong. He did have to tube him and finally got the apple unstuck from the horses throat. When the horse was spasming I said how rough it was on him, and his quote was,"He'll just have to deal with it". I never want this vet out at my place again. Than I got the bill and was shocked. He charged me for an "overtime" call it was 10:30 a.m on a Thursday, $125. He also charged me $145 for an exam plus $40 for "tube". I challenged the bill and Dr. Cooper called and was arrogant again! I'm thinking of changing vets. Prices are to me out of control. But his arrogance and lack of compassion was the worst I have ever encountered. Vet bills are the main reason for not buying another horse.

Dr. Grant Miller has been fabulous with all of our horses and our friends' horses. He even came out late on a Saturday when there was a terrible accident and saved our young horse's life. His work with Sonoma CHANGE, program for abused/neglected horses, including providing court testimony to prosecute perpetrators is very admirable. Really a great person, and a great doctor (also dental, chiropractic) with endless energy. Linda Patch

I have always liked working with Sonoma Marin Vet! I had a horrible struggle with two rescue horses that came down with pigeon fever. We battled it for four month, the mare had no immune system, we saved one and the other we ended up having to put down. My regular vet, Grant Miller, was not available so another vet came out to put her down. The vet that came out, Dr. O'Conner was compassionate and took his time and comforted me. I was emotional about my mare, it was traumatic. I put my mare down on a Saturday and 8:00 Monday morning Dr. Miller called me to let me know that I made the right decision. I felt like they really cared about me and my horse. I would recommend this vet service to anyone!

Most of their vet staff is very professional. Choose the older vets as they are less emotional and much more supportive. Their office staff works very hard to support all the clients. Good prices on prescriptions, but no email access to the vets for questions and communications. No web site. Our boarding business recommends Dr Keffer, Dr Nieto, Dr O'Connor best to use for equine. Refrain from the other younger vets.

I was not satisfied with my interactions with one of the vets at Sonoma Marin. Unfortunately it's been long enough that I don't recall his name. I was having a horse treated on-location at a boarding facility and he would not answer my questions about my horse's condition. Rather, he kept talking to the stable manager and did not look directly at me until I asked him how much I owed him for the visit. While I paid the amount in full, including some shots that had been administered to my horse on a prior date, I later recieved another bill for the service. When I called to dispute this, they threatened to send me to collections and I wound up paying another $100+ over the original amount I was quoted. I cannot comment on the facilities since he came in a truck to the boarding stable. The only positive thing I can say is that the vet was on time, but I would not have an animal treated there again.
